PHILADELPHIA – NFL star Michael Vick held a Celebrity Golf Challenge on June 18th which proved to be a successful event for charity. Luke Stanton from SaveAround, Inc., a fundraising company, presented a $10,000 check to Team Freedom Outreach during the event.
Team Freedom Outreach is a Christian-based nonprofit organization that mentors juveniles currently incarcerated in detention centers. Volunteers spend time with the juveniles and enrich their lives through sports activity. The interaction provides the youth with morally strong, male role-models.
Michael Vick volunteered to assist Team Freedom Outreach by filming a public service announcement encouraging men to volunteer their time to visit and mentor incarcerated youth.
“Many of these children are locked away and forgotten about by society,” said Vick. “It is important that someone still believes in them. These kids can turn it around and make the most of a second chance.”
Team Freedom Outreach plans to use the funds to further its marketing efforts for enlisting volunteers and sponsors as well as the purchase of equipment and supplies.
